01 August 2024, CANBERRA – H.E. Ma. Hellen B. De La Vega, Philippine Ambassador to Australia, administered the oath of office to Ms. Melissa D. Aguasa as Philippine Honorary Consul to Western Australia on 31 July 2024, after Ms. Aguasa received her Exequatur from Australia allowing her to officially begin the exercise of her functions.

This officially reopens the Philippine Consulate in Perth, under the consular jurisdiction of the Philippine Embassy in Canberra, to serve more than 46,000 Filipinos in Western Australia.

The Honorary Consul is responsible for promoting and protecting the interests of the Philippines in Western Australia. It is also her duty to protect the rights and promote the welfare of Filipino citizens in her consular jurisdiction.

Honorary consular offices offer a range of consular services except for passport renewal which is provided by the Philippine Embassy in Canberra, the Philippine Consulate General in Sydney and the Philippine Consulate General in Melbourne.
