The two countries announced the elevation of relations to a Strategic Partnership in September 2023 during the visit of Prime Minister Anthony Albanese to Manila. The Embassy processed 87 passport applications, 8 civil registry/notarial documents, administered the oath of allegiance to 21 Filipinos who reacquired their Filipino citizenship through the Citizenship Retention and Reacquisition Act of 2003, and registered 62 Filipinos as overseas voters.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS FOR CHINESE NATIONALS APPLYING FOR PHILIPPINE 9(A) TEMPORARY VISITOR’S VISA
The Philippine Embassy in Canberra informs the public that Chinese nationals applying for Philippine 9(A) Temporary Visitor’s Visa will be required to submit their Chinese Social Insurance Record Certificates.
The submitted Certificate must be registered for at least six (6) months at the time of the submission of the visa application. Exceptions to the abovementioned visa requirement will only apply to Chinese nationals currently enrolled in primary, secondary, or college education who will be required to submit proof of enrollment, and retirees above 55 years old.
