06 July 2022, CANBERRA – Philippine Ambassador to Australia paid a courtesy call on The Right Worshipful the Lord Mayor of Darwin, the Honourable Kon Vatskalis at the Mayoral Chambers on 29 June 2022.

Mayor Vatskalis acknowledged the extremely strong Philippines-Australia connections and the highly respected Filipinos in Darwin. Ambassador De La Vega thanked the Mayor for the warm hospitality extended to Filipinos in Darwin and for facilitating the grant of the Filipino Community Centre in Marrara when he was the Northern Territory Minister for Multicultural Affairs. The Filipino Community Centre is being used for Filipino community events and mobile consular missions.

Mayor Vatskalis looks forward to enhanced relations between the Philippines and the Northern Territory. He mentioned that the resumption of flights from Darwin to Manila is vital to enhance connectivity.--END
