06 November 2025, Canberra – The Embassy of the Philippines in Canberra was represented by First Secretary and Consul Rainier J. Casis in the International Trade and Sustainable Agriculture Symposium at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre from 04-05 November 2025. The symposium was attended by delegates from various countries in the Indo-Pacific region.
The symposium, a collaborative effort between the Australian Government Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) and the Australian Farm Institute (AFI), served as a vital platform for promoting cooperation and the exchange of information among Indo-Pacific nations. Its central objectives were to explore viable pathways for achieving sustainable agriculture and to address the resulting trade challenges that sustainability measures often present. This event was instrumental in underscoring the region's commitment to advancing sustainable agricultural practices, thereby contributing to the future stability, resilience, and prosperity of the Indo-Pacific.
A key focus of the discussions was to pinpoint shared priorities and practical, actionable steps that will shape future trade and sustainability policies. The fundamental aim throughout was to ensure that solutions remain centered on the farmer, which is essential for sustaining agriculture's indispensable contribution to global food security. - END
