The Philippine Embassy today made an appeal for generosity for victims of monsoon rains and Typhoon Gener (International name: Haikui).
Since 06 August 2012, the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) enhanced by Typhoon Gener brought heavy to intense and frequent rains over Luzon in the Philippines.
According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council’s Situation Report No. 8 of 10 August 2012, a total of 539,838 families or 2,442,135 persons are affected by the disaster. Casualties numbered sixty (60), most of whom are victims of drowning or landslide incidents.

Donation of used clothing is discouraged per DSWD AO No. 06-2010, but new towels, face towels, blankets and beddings are most welcome. Donations should be labeled as “assorted humanitarian goods” to facilitate clearance upon arrival in the Philippines.
