Import of Meat (Personal/Non-Commercial Use)

Read Memorandum Circular No. 48 Series of 2021 – VETERINARY QUARANTINE GUIDELINES FOR THE IMPORT OF MEAT INTENDED FOR PERSONAL OR NON-COMMERCIAL USE.

  1. Processed fully-heat treated meat products, including canned meat, regardless of weight from countries free from Transboundary Animal Diseases (such as African Swine Fever, Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza, Foot and Mouth Disease) – NO SPS IMPORT CLEARANCE REQUIRED FROM BUREAU OF ANIMAL INDUSTRY. MEAT AND MEAT PRODUCTS FROM BANNED COUNTRIES SHALL BE SUBJECT TO IMMEDIATE CONFISCATION.
  2. Processed but uncooked meat products (e.g., salted, cured, in brine, smoked, marinated, etc.) from countries free from Transboundary Animal Diseases (such as African Swine Fever, Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza, Foot and Mouth Disease) – MAXIMUM WEIGHT 0F TEN (10) KILOGRAMS PER PASSENGER: NO SPS IMPORT CLEARANCE REQUIRED FROM BUREAU OF ANIMAL INDUSTRY. PASSENGER MAY PRESENT EITHER A VETERINARY HEALTH CERTIFICATE, PROOF OF PURCHASE, OR ANY VALID DOCUMENT INDICATING THE SOURCE OF ORIGIN. MEAT AND MEAT PRODUCTS FROM BANNED COUNTRIES SHALL BE SUBJECT TO IMMEDIATE CONFISCATION.
  3. Unprocessed meat products (e.g. frozen meat) – SPS IMPORT CLEARANCE FROM BUREAU OF ANIMAL INDUSTRY IS REQUIRED, REGARDLESS OF WEIGHT. NO CLEARANCE WILL BE SUBJECT TO CONFISCATION.
